Funnel web spider feeding Gigathele hungae- Taiwanese funnel web spider Gigathele hungae is a mygalomorph spider in the Macrothelidae family with the typical robust chelicerae, elongated spinnerets and a body plan adapted to ground habitats. It occupies humid crevices, soil fissures, cavities beneath stones and root systems. It constructs a funnel or tubular web consisting of a flat capture sheet that narrows into a silk-lined tunnel used as a refuge. Vibrations on the sheet trigger rapid strikes, followed by withdrawal of captured prey into the tube. Venom glands deliver a complex mixture of peptides documented in related Macrothele species, including neuroactive components suited for immobilizing ground-dwelling arthropods.

It knows how to knit the scaffolding & switch from one subroutine to the next, running complex 3D algorithms in the physical world. I know we're all (rightly) impressed with AI, but mother nature has been working on this release for 300M times longer, and for now she still has no problem taking home the miniaturization prize.
