Dude, SAME! And we love it 👏🏻
These leashes get a bad rep for good reason. Idiots using them, wrapping them around people or not having control. But used appropriately - best tool out, especially for giving dogs a bit more freedom without having to reel in and out a long line.
But here’s the details that matter:
- Flexi brand only, none of the cheap junk.
- Tape always! This means you can grab it and control the dog quickly if needed, and reduces risk of damage.
- Check the weight ratings.
- Use with situational awareness, with dogs that are under enough control to be safe.
They are not a replacement for a standard walking leash for busier or confined environments, nor are they a complete replacement for a long line (especially when it comes to recall where we want to be able to gradually fade it out).
But we love a flexi for:
- On leash nature walks.
- Puppy toilet training.
- Casual walks in quieter spaces where we want to give the dog a bit of freedom.
- One handed leash management in play.
- Supporting clients with mobility challenges that make managing a long line challenging.
Most tools have a place!
