I once heard someone say… “The most powerful women in the room are the ones reminding other women they belong there too.” And that line stayed with me. Because during my years in Corporate Banking, there were times I walked into meetings where some clients clearly expected a man to be their Relationship Director. You could see the surprise when it was me. But this was the role I had worked hard for. The seat at that table was mine… and I wasn’t about to shrink myself to make anyone else comfortable. So I showed up. I spoke up. And I did the job. Someone offered to take my plate… and I shut it down without even thinking, because I wasn’t used to receiving help. That moment stayed with me. It made me realize how uncomfortable I was with something as simple as letting someone support me. And if I was doing that with small things, where else was I doing it in my life? A lot of strong women don’t struggle with doing, we struggle with receiving.
