It was released in August 1963 as the Ronettes' debut on Philles Records and became their biggest hit, reaching number 2 in the U.S. and Canada, and number 4 in the UK. Spector produced the song in his Wall of Sound style at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood with the group of session musicians later known as the Wrecking Crew. It marked the first time that he recorded with a full orchestra. Ronnie Spector (then Veronica Bennett) is the only Ronette that appears on the track. In 1964, it appeared on their album Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes. A significant influence on music production, "Be My Baby" is sometimes ranked among the all-time greatest songs in popular music. It influenced many artists, most notably the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, who wrote the answer song "Don't Worry Baby" (1964). Many others have replicated or recreated Hal Blaine's central drum phrase, considered to be one of the most recognizable in pop music. The song has been played on radio and television over 3 million times and has returned to the U.S. top 40 via cover versions by Andy Kim and Jody Miller. In 2006, the Library of Congress inducted the Ronettes' recording into the National Recording Registry. Doll production in 1963 was a surprisingly hands-on process, blending early factory machinery with a lot of detailed manual work. Faces were painted by workers using stencils and brushes, hair was stitched or glued on strand by strand, and bodies were molded from warm plastic before being cooled and assembled. Conveyor belts moved dolls from one station to the next as each worker added a different feature - eyes, eyelashes, clothing, accessories. Remembering once again one of the emotional last voice recordings from September 11, which belongs to Lauren Grandcolas. She was 3 months pregnant and was on Flight 93 when it was hijacked. Born on August 31, 1963, Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas would be 62 years old today in 2026. On September 11, 38-year-old Grandcolas, an advertising sales consultant for Good Housekeeping magazine, was returning home to San Rafael, California having flown to New Jersey to attend her grandmother's funeral. Upon arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport earlier than expected, she decided to switch to an earlier flight, due to depart at 8 a.m., to San Francisco. She called her husband to alert him to her updated arrival plans but, given the time difference he was still in bed. She boarded United Flight 93 and took her seat in row 11. From the passenger cabin, Grandcolas managed to place another call recorded on the couple's home answering machine after the aircraft had been hijacked. With extraordinary calm and careful wording, she informed her husband that "we're having a little problem on the plane; I'm totally fine. I love you more than anything; just know that." A total of 37 phone calls were made from United Airlines Flight 93 during the hijacking on September 11, 2001. These calls were placed by passengers and crew members between the time the plane was hijacked at 9:28 am and the time of the crash at 10:03 am. 35 of these calls were made using Airfones located on the seatbacks, while two were made from personal cell phones. #neverforget

The story follows the bumbling French police Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) as he tries to catch the elusive, high-society jewel thief “The Phantom” (David Niven), whose true identity is Sir Charles Lytton. Both are in an Alpine ski resort, vying for the priceless diamond which belongs to a displaced princess. The film is a romantic comedy and caper film, blending elegant settings and witty dialogue with physical comedy, which served to launch Peter Sellers into international stardom.
