From curated exhibitions to spontaneous street finds, Copenhagen truly lives and breathes design. One thing that completely blew us away? The sheer abundance of vintage furniture! For anyone who believes in sustainability through design, this city is a dream. Because let’s be honest: buying vintage is buying future. We also had the chance to connect with some of the most creative minds: from interior designers and architects to collectors and visionary sellers. From industrial roots to a global model of urban living, #Copenhagen’s evolution tells a story of people-first design, green thinking, and bold architectural creativity. Once a heavily industrialized city, the Danish capital began embracing the English “garden city” concept to clean up and spread out its neighborhoods. Then came the game-changing “Five Finger Plan” in 1947, which helped shape a transit-oriented city with urban clusters growing along major transport lines. But the real transformation took off in the 1960s, when Jan Gehl’s initiative to pedestrianize Strøget marked a shift toward people-first planning. Since then, Copenhagen has focused on creating spaces that prioritize residents’ well-being, encouraging architects to design with both innovation and humanity in mind. As we gear up for 3daysofDesign on June 18th, 19th, and 20th, we have put together a list of contemporary architecture projects that demonstrate the creativity and sensibility of Copenhagen architecture.
