BEYesterday was my first state-level(national trials)SBD comp⭐️
Until now, I had only competed at the district level, the last one being a year ago
This meet was announced just a week ago and I was genuinely unsure if I should even participate.
For nearly six months, I had been disconnected from deadlifts not because the strength wasn’t there, but because mentally I wasn’t. A year ago I had already pulled 140( in my first year of lifting ) and repped it out multiple times around April, but somewhere along the way, my mental health, the environment and constant pressure slowly affected my confidence and that showed the most in THISS lift.
When I started preparing for States Bench, I sidelined deadlifts and gave everything to bench for the next 2-3 months, only beginning to reconnect with deadlifts again this past month 💌
I knew my numbers weren’t where they need to be yet for my category Ik there’s a lot of work to do but I showed up anyway. And I’m genuinely happy I did. This meet reminded me why I love the sport sm, the numbers will come. For now, I’m grateful for the experience and glad that I didn’t skip this step.
