What is it like to participate in one of our ASEFYLS Projects? As part of the ASEFYLS Capacity Buildings 2024, we organised the In-Person Training in Beijing and Hangzhou, China, which brought together 40 participants from Asia and Europe to engage in people-to-people dialogue exchanges, networking, and learning in a local context.💡 This year, we are organising the 6th ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS6). For this third and final year of the topic of ’Leadership in Society 5.0’ we will bring the participants together in Osaka, Japan for a large scale summit to learn more about the topic and to develop their leadership skills!🙌 Learn more about ASEFYLS6 and sign up to the mailing list to be one of the first ones to know when the Open Call for applications is open! On January 24, we celebrate the International Day of Education under the theme "The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education." The topic shines a spotlight on how countries involve young people in shaping education laws and policies. At ASEF and in our Education Department ASEFEdu, we stand in strong alignment with this effort — continuing to empower youth across Asia and Europe to co-create the future of learning, education policy, and leadership. 🌍✨🌍✨ How do we do it? Youth Driving Change At ASEF, young voices are not only heard but also amplified in international processes that shape education across the ASEM region. We work with representatives from some of Asia and Europe’s largest student and youth organisations across ASEF's 51 member countries; including Erasmus Student Network (ESN), the European Students’ Forum (AEGEE), the European Students’ Union (ESU), STEAR (Student Think Tank for Europe-Asia Relations), and the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO). Through youth dialogues and summits, ASEF connects these networks to ASEM leaders and ministers, ensuring that youth declarations and recommendations feed directly into policymaking processes. Hands-On Co-Creation Through projects like ASEF Young Leaders Summit and our Capacity Buildings, we help young leaders gain the skills and experience needed for meaningful participation in education transformation through experiential learning and collaborative initiatives; turning youth ideas into action for inclusive, equitable education. Join the Movement This year, we are organising the ASEFYLS Capacity Buildings 2026 and ASEF Higher Education Agenda for Dialogue (AHEAD) 2026 - both of which you as young leaders in Asia and Europe can participate and make your voice heard in the shaping of the Educational system in Asia and Europe!
