WEApple Delays iPhone to Go Foldable
Apple just broke its own pattern. The iPhone 18 won’t launch in 2026 — it’s been pushed to 2027. The reason isn’t failure. It’s focus. Apple is betting on something bigger: its first foldable iPhone, expected to cost $1,999 and generate up to $65 billion in revenue. Behind the scenes, Apple is in supply chase mode. Memory chip costs are soaring. Advanced chipmaking nodes are scarce. Apple is competing directly with Nvidia and Amazon for the same materials. Tim Cook admitted inventory was “very lean” after the December quarter. So Apple made a choice: prioritize premium margin over volume. The foldable is expected to feature a 7.8-inch internal display, folding similarly to Samsung’s Galaxy Z line. While competitors race to the bottom with cheaper devices, Apple is doubling down on luxury. Last quarter alone, Apple sold $85.3 billion in iPhones, up 23% year over year. Fewer products. Higher prices. Tighter control. That’s the strategy.
