FIIn the Flesh (2013–2014) 🧟♂️🧠
Plot:
In the Flesh is a British supernatural drama set after a zombie uprising known as “The Rising.” Instead of simply killing the undead, scientists discover a treatment that restores their minds and personalities. The condition is called Partially Deceased Syndrome (PDS).
The story follows Kieren Walker, a teenage boy who died during The Rising and later receives treatment that allows him to return to society. After rehabilitation, he is sent back to his small hometown in Lancashire, where many residents are still traumatized by the zombie attacks.
To appear human again, people with PDS must wear makeup and contact lenses to hide their pale skin and lifeless eyes. Despite being cured, Kieren faces fear, prejudice, and hostility from locals who still see him as a monster. At the same time, he struggles with guilt over what he did while he was undead.
As Kieren tries to rebuild his life with his family and reconnect with friends, the series explores themes of identity, discrimination, mental health, and acceptance, using the zombie concept as a powerful metaphor for social issues.
