This single mom was living in something worse than a shed, working at a gas station trying to raise her son after leaving an abusive relationship. I’ll never forget the moment we handed the mom the keys to her home, tears streaming down her eyes as she hugged her son tightly in such gratitude. 🥹 What a gift we were able to give her… She barely had a roof over her head and now she gets to be safe in a home with her family… something she never knew would be possible. If you need some perspective in your life, go do something like this. Build something meaningful with your hands & meet the people… it’s a completely different feeling than donating to charity, no matter how big the check you write. We partnered with @bajaboundbuilds for this project and I highly recommend them. 🩷 We even got to visit a local orphanage, feed the kids and play with them. This trip will always hold such a special place in my heart. 🫶🏽 #bajabound #charity #buildinghouses #giveback

📘Passport: a valid passport — Baja Border Checklist 🌞⬇️ Save this for future reference & send to a friend that you want to travel down Baja with! 📘Passport: a valid passport is required for all travelers to enter Mexico! A general rule of thumb is to make sure your passport won’t be expiring within 6 months of your return date 🐾 Dogs Vaccination Records: if you are bringing your pups (you should because Baja is so dog friendly & our pups LOVE it down there) you’re going to need proof of their vaccinations, especially rabies. We were never actually asked for this documentation in the past but it is possible so better to be prepared! 🚐 Vehicle Registration: make sure you have your vehicle’s registration with you & make sure the name on the registration matches your ID 🪪 to avoid any confusion. This lets them know the vehicle is yours and is legally allowed on the road 🛠️ Mexico Vehicle Insurance: Vehicle insurance in Mexico is not only legally required but is smart to have! The roads in Baja are narrow with no shoulder, potholed, and there’s an abundance of stray cattle 🐮 Make sure you’re covered in case of an accident! We use Baja Bound for our Mexico insurance — their website makes it super simple & straight forward to figuring out how to insure your vehicle 👏🏼 highly suggest printing both the Mexican and US versions! 🇲🇽 FMM Permit (Forma Migratoria Multiple): This is essentially a temporary visa, and it’s required by any visitors that are staying longer than 7 days. You can easily get this permit at the INM office at the border crossing OR you can fill it out online beforehand. If you do it beforehand you will need to take your printed receipt by the INM office to get your official entry stamp 🎟️ the permit costs $717 pesos, which is about $43USD, and it lasts up to 180 days! **I suggest making copies of everything - passports, insurance coverage, vehicle registration, dog paperwork. If you are pulled over at any point while driving through Baja, you can give them a copy of your paperwork and have extras in the case they don’t give them back** #mexicotravels #bajamexico #vanlifetravels #vanlifegirls #travelmexico🇲🇽 #dogfriendlytravel
