OF“I watched my 1.5-year-old daughter crying when my ex-husband and I were fighting. At that moment, I decided, I couldn't just be a ‘good wife,’ I had to be a brave mother.
In 2011, I met him at work. While working in close circles, we connected. He was very sweet, he’d make sure I’d eaten, and called me princess. Eventually, I fell for that charm. After 7 years of dating, we got married in 2018. Everything was going well until 2021. When I became pregnant with Gurbani, my ex’s behaviour started to change. After delivery, while I was very weak, I expected his support, but instead, he became distant. I chose silence until the night my world shattered.
I was at my parents' house in Gwalior. I was checking our Delhi house’s front door CCTV. I saw him with a girl. When I confronted him, he tried to fool me by saying she was a ‘colleague.’
For the next 1.5 years, I tried to reconcile but he only gave me silent treatment or insults. Once, in a rage, he broke our family photo frame. Gurbani was crying and begging her Papa to stop. But he didn’t and left the home in anger. Later, he came back just to serve me divorce papers. After he left, Gurbani kept asking, ‘Where’s Papa?’ and I had no answers. Even her health started getting affected and I couldn’t manage on my own. So, I decided to move in with my parents who helped me cope.
But for days, I was feeling very depressed and lonely. There was a point where I spent days just lying in bed, crying. And then one day, I looked at my daughter. That moment changed everything. I realized that if not for myself, I had to get up for her.
That’s when I decided to start content creation. It wasn’t planned – it was just a way to express myself, to release everything I had been holding inside. Today, I have moved to Hyderabad with Gurbani. My days start with her giggles. In between work, I play with her, feed her. Honestly, It’s exhausting at times, but at least my daughter isn’t traumatized everyday. At least she now has a home where she can find love, respect, and peace. We both are healing, rebuilding, one day at a time.”
