SKThese past months have been beyond intense and there have been so many moments when I’ve felt as though I was floundering.
The uncertainty of everything has felt overwhelming and at times I’ve felt as though I was losing myself entirely. Nothing has been straightforward or easy.
Some of you know that the nausea and vomiting have persisted and I’m still trying to get a handle on that. I’m not there yet and what lies ahead is still unknown. But then, it always is, isn’t it? Despite what we tell ourselves.
So while I’m still very much on the path of recovery (I literally vomited again this morning) I think it’s important to share some of the victories. One of them being that the mass removed from my brain was benign 🙏 Another one being that I went outside today and walked unaided 💃
I share this knowing that not everyone is lucky enough to have any kind of recovery. I’m truly mindful of that. But at the same time I want to celebrate what I can. The hard times are hard enough.
Thank you so much to everyone who continues to be with me on this journey. I have felt so much less alone in this experience because of you.
My next goal is to get the nausea and vomiting under control so I can go @shakeshack Yup, out of all the gourmet restaurants in NYC, I just want a burger and fries 😊 And two milkshakes. Hopefully that will be a post I share with you soon!
For now, I’m sending love to everyone who is celebrating #InternationalWomensDay We are more than a day of course, but I’ll celebrate women in any way I can. May we keep rising up and refuse to accept the unacceptable. May we elevate one another as we create a world where we are safe, supported and celebrated. May we stand tall in our truth and find courage as we forge forward. May we know the power of our love and the strength of our communities. And most of all, may we always know the value of who we are and what we contribute.
