Our house is next to Yufein, and often I see many tourists going there. There are also a lot of people asking wheter they should visit Yufein or Beppu. Whilst Yufein looks great on pictures, I did not like the village at all. It was just thirty of the same mini shops selling studio ghibli souvenirs and the village itself looked like miniature Disneyland. There was nothing magical about it, and there were a lot of tourists. I think if you have kids, it can be a bit more interesting to go to. On kyushu, there are many 'magical' or 'studio ghibli' style villages and places without tourists and that were naturally build. (More about these places in my blog). If you are still planning to go yufein, there are some side streets that encaptured way more of the studio ghibli vibe than the main street. (Route also in my blog). The Yufein area is really pretty as it is in the mountains, it is just the village that was dissapointing and I wouldn't go there again. Have you been to Yufein before and what was your experience? 🤔

We found out the hard way that we could’ve taken the Sonic one (I reserved this through the station na lang as compared to the other I bookes via online) for a more faster route as compared to the “scenic” Yufu3 🚞 So much to chika about this, so stay tuned about the Yufuin and Hells of Beppu Vlogs 🤪🤭 *Went there last week of Nov 2024 *Also check out the @beppugirl_yuki 🙈 for more Beppu finds! I bet you didn’t know this about Japan… I definitely didn’t {Follow @global.and.beyond.travel for more Japan gems} This was one of those Japan things we kept walking past because we didn’t realise what it was They’re foot steamers! Powered by natural hot spring steam rising straight from the ground! And once you know what you’re looking for, you start spotting them in onsen towns They’re most common in highly volcanic areas (listed below) ✨Need to know ✨ 
• Hot spring steam (not water)
• Shoes off only, clothes stay on
• Sit, close the lid, and relax
• 5–10 minutes is plenty
• Easy to do with a travel buddy or family ✨Foot steamer locations ✨ 📍 Beppu (Kyushu) is by far the easiest place to find them ✈️ We explored Kyushu by flying into the region with @chinaairlines.au ✨ You’ll also find foot steamers in places like 
• Unzen Onsen (Nagasaki)
• Kirishima Onsen (Kagoshima)
• Ibusuki (more famous for sand baths, but steam areas exist) • Hokkaido
• Noboribetsu Onsen (near jigoku steam zones)
• Jozankei Onsen (limited, location-specific) ✨Cost ✨
• Many are free

Check their Google reviews) 😅 Here're my tips for you to avoid the wait ⬇️ - The restaurant opens at 11am, be there at 10am, write your name down (open the door, there's a list inside) ✍️ - Follow their instagram @kamesho_9696_sushi as they post the waiting status on their stories - After writing your name, visit Hells of Beppu (10mins by bus) or go to Hyotan onsen (5min walk) from the sushi place while waiting ♨️For example: I went there at 10am on a Saturday and I was number 51, equals 4-hour wait. That means they can serve around 12-13 guests per hour. So depending on the number you get, estimate the time you need to be back. - If you don't show up when its your turn, they will cross out your name, so watch the time and their insta stories while you're hanging out somewhere else. If you can kill the time while waiting the experience will be so WORTH IT!!!!
