AIAdley update - 6 weeks ago adley spent a week in hospital with suspected pneumonia, rsv and hand foot and mouth. I then mentioned in stories a few days ago that Adley had continued to get temperatures on and off for the last 8 weeks and that she just wasn’t herself and has been screaming a lot of the time for the last week and really now sleeping or eating much but wasn’t sick enough to go to the gp as her breathing was ok and medically she seemed stable. We saw her consultant on Wednesday who confirmed she had tested positive for the Epstein Barr virus - which is essentially the glandular fever virus. We thought that the pain was from swollen lymph nodes in her stomach that can happen with that. However Thursday she got much worse with the pain, screaming all day and her stomach was really tender and swollen so we brought her into the children’s hospital. Unfortunately she has some rare complications and has a swollen spleen and swollen liver. There’s nothing they can do about it, besides pain management so we have been discharged and have just got home. We’re praying her pain reduces soon. She hasn’t slept properly in over a week due to the pain waking her and I’ve now been awake for 36 hours. She was given a suppository to help make some room for the swollen organs which seems to have helped. She had a chest X-ray which ruled out reherniation from her congenital diagraphmatic hernia patch repair, and ultrasound confirmed everything else. She’s traumatised from our last admission where they were unable to cannulate so didn’t do bloods but her last CRP 6 weeks ago was 62. Please send her prayers as it’s so horrible watching her in this much pain! 🤍💔 #nicu #medicalmom #congenitaldiaphragmatichernia #cdh #chd

DRThrilled to share our newly published study on ultrasound vs MRI in predicting survival to hospital discharge in congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) 💙🫁✨
We compared US-based observed/expected lung-to-head ratio (O/E LHR) with MRI-based observed/expected total lung volume (O/E TLV) — and found that both modalities are comparable, complementary, and clinically powerful 📈🤝
Key message:
➡️ Ultrasound and MRI each provide valuable prognostic information.
➡️ Both should be used together to optimize counseling and management for families facing CDH.

I have had many surgeries to help me including a trach. I am a happy little boy. I love to eat ( especially ice cream), bluey is my favorite show, I love cars, coloring and playing with my two older sisters!

HC✨❄ On Day 5 of HCA Healthcare’s #12DaysofCaring, we join physicians, nurses and colleagues at @methodistchildrens in celebrating the sendoff of baby Irina after a 207-day hospital stay. Thanks to the expert care she received at the San Antonio, Texas, hospital, Irina is home with her loved ones for the holidays.
Irina was born with an obstructed infradiaphragmatic Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR), a congenital heart defect impacting her pulmonary veins. Equipped with one of the most comprehensive pediatric congenital heart surgery programs in South Texas, Irina’s dedicated care team performed multiple successful surgeries including a complex open-heart procedure.
Hope, celebration and well wishes echoed through the hospital halls as Irina was discharged home. Her pediatric congenital heart team has supported Irina through every step of her journey and will continue to provide her with expert care after hospitalization.
Thank you to caregivers across our organization who provide specialized, compassionate care to those we serve. Please join us in sending warm wishes to baby Irina and her family as they celebrate her first holiday season at home. 🏠
