Following the announcement, over 200 protesters reportedly blocked traffic on a main road in Dakar with a makeshift barricade of burning tyres. The crowds were dispersed after riot police fired tear gas and made arrests. Senegalese President Macky Sall announced the election delay on Saturday, citing a dispute over the candidate list. Last month, Senegal's Constitutional Council excluded some prominent opposition members from the list of candidates.

I sat there rocking and burping baby Nico during the interview, just hoping she wouldn’t think I was too crazy for multitasking motherhood and hiring all at once. Meanwhile, I was making sure she was sane, didn’t wear 6 bottles of perfume on her clothes (😜😂), could handle our chaos, and would be the right fit for our team. Safe to say.. it was the best yes ever. ❤️

The Chief Minister had reportedly instructed the team to conduct constituency-level surveys and submit a shortlist of five potential candidates per constituency based on public support and popularity. However, intelligence inputs submitted to the Chief Minister allege that the Ben strategy firm failed to select candidates based on grassroots influence. Instead, it is claimed that several names were included in the candidate list after allegedly collecting large sums of money from aspirants.
