While I appreciate the creativity and attention to detail that went into this project, I am also somewhat critical of its ability to truly capture the essence of an iconic supercar like the McLaren F1.
On the one hand, I must say that the precision and skill required to create a life-size paper car sculpture with such intricate folds and stunning visual appeal are truly impressive. As a car designer known for my sleek and aerodynamic designs, I appreciate the level of craftsmanship that went into this project.
However, I am also sceptical of the ability of a paper car to truly capture the speed and power of the McLaren F1. While the paper car sculpture certainly looks impressive, I wonder if it can truly evoke the same emotions as a real car can.
That being said, I do appreciate the partnership between the McLaren team and Paperlegend to create this unique representation of their fans’ dedication and creativity. The fact that they were able to collaborate and create something truly original and innovative is commendable.
Overall, while I have some reservations about the ability of a paper car to truly capture the essence of an iconic supercar like the McLaren F1, I must say that Paperlegend’s full-size paper car sculpture is an impressive feat of craftsmanship that demonstrates the creativity and dedication of those who love cars and want to push the boundaries of what is possible.

After the announcement of the #_京セラ_moeye, a truly special moment awaited me.
It wasn’t something I had ever put into words, nor even called a “dream” out loud—
But back when I was a student aspiring to become a car designer,
I had a small display case of model cars next to my desk.
I remember how I would sometimes gaze at them absentmindedly,
and sometimes even sketch while holding one for inspiration.
And yes, I think somewhere in my heart, I had hoped that one day, I might have a model car of something I designed.
After the Moeye project, the team at Kyocera kindly gifted me one of just four specially made model cars, along with a message of gratitude.
Though I’m the one who should be thanking them,
being able to build this kind of relationship with a client is something I deeply cherish.
I’ll carry this moment with me, and let it remind me to keep moving forward.

特に口にするわけでもなく、夢として掲げていたわけでもないけれどー
クルマのデザイナーを目指していた学生時代、デスクの横には小さなミニカーのコレクションケースがありました。たまにぼんやりとそれを眺めたり、時にはインスピレーションにミニカー片手にスケッチをしたりしていたのを思い出します。そして、確かに「いつかは自分がデザインした車のミニカーを」と考えていたと思います。Moeyeプロジェクト後、京セラの方々のご厚意で、4台だけ特別に製作したミニカーを感謝の言葉と共に頂きました。こちらが感謝するばかりですが、このような関係性をクライアントさんと築けたこと、またこの瞬間を忘れずに、これからも頑張って行こうと思いました。

HY🩷 The Panthermobile is one of the most flamboyant and iconic custom cars ever built, originally created in 1969 by Hollywood car designer Ed “Newt” Newton and constructed by Bob Reisner and Dan Woods for the opening credits of The Pink Panther Show.
Stretching over 23 feet long, it featured an exaggerated bubble canopy cockpit, exposed front wheels, wild tail fins, and a massive plush pink interior, meant to reflect the animated style of the Pink Panther character.
The vehicle was powered by an Oldsmobile V8 mounted in the rear and was not very practical—it could barely turn or stop—but its purpose was pure visual spectacle.
The car later became a collector’s item and changed hands at auctions, with periods of neglect and full restoration, cementing its place as a legendary piece of 1970s automotive pop culture.
