CHSo many useless "jazz exercises" all over the internet. Some of them sound REALLY nice and pretty, but are actually mini compositions composed by classical musicians and disguised as jazz exercises. Just because it's written over a 251 chord progression doesn't make it an effective jazz exercise. At best, some of these exercises are really just to improve physical technique.
An effective exercise is usually a piece of jazz vocab which you quickly learn and then immediately get to applying, like the broken 3rds I'm demonstrating in this video.
Now, learning to apply vocab is for a different video and is often the trickiest part of developing language because different people learn and apply vocab differently. Some methods of application are universal, but ultimately a big part of your journey is discovering what works best for you. If you're serious about your jazz progress then you already know that developing vocabulary is key, but you may be struggling to really apply the vocab you're learning. If you're committed to figuring this all out with my guidance, then comment "LAUNCH" and let's chat.
