🌤️ 5th Grade Science – Weather Unit Wrap-Up! 🌈 We are incredibly proud of our 5th graders and the hard work they demonstrated during their Weather Unit presentations! Students created severe weather safety guides, recorded weather forecasts, tracked 5-day weather journals, conducted hands-on experiments, performed skits and songs, built interactive games and models, and designed digital presentations. Throughout the unit, they confidently used science vocabulary such as atmosphere, humidity, precipitation, and air pressure while clearly explaining important weather concepts. ✝️ A special highlight of this unit was connecting science learning to a Biblical worldview. As students studied the atmosphere and the water cycle, they were reminded of God’s order and design in creation: “He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain.” – Psalm 147:8 We are grateful for their dedication, creativity, and the way they consistently strive to do their very best! 🌦️👏

6th graders have been busy diving into their weather and air masses science unit! 🌎⛅️ Each student selected a location from around the world and researched its unique weather patterns and climate. They then stepped into the role of meteorologists, creating and presenting their very own weather forecasts for their chosen location. During their presentations, students confidently used key vocabulary and demonstrated an understanding of concepts like air masses, fronts, and forecasting.

Forecast: 100% chance of creativity. ☀️ In Mr. Sutherland's 8th Grade Science class, students dove into the exciting world of weather, exploring everything from storm formation to the science behind forecasting. Students selected weather-related topics and brought them to life through visual presentations of their choice, from dynamic slide decks to creative displays. Along the way, they deepened their understanding of meteorology while sharpening research, design, and public speaking skills. The result? A classroom filled with curiosity, confidence, and a whole lot of scientific discovery.

At February’s Mid-Winter Climate Institute, a few of our attendees gave their perspective on what makes spaces like this one so important. One common thread shone through: Climate education is for all teachers, all students, and all schools. Find future Professional Development opportunities and more resources on how to incorporate Climate Education into your classes and schools at the link in our bio. A massive thank you to all of the educators featured here, as well as all the rest who attended!

As part of Grade 4’s nonfiction unit on severe weather, students have been researching and writing their own informational books, and now they’re getting ready to step into the spotlight with their very own weather newscasts! To prepare, they invited a professional meteorologist to share expert tips on being on camera and staying calm when delivering important news about severe weather. Our budding broadcasters asked thoughtful questions and gained real-world insight as they get ready to report the forecast themselves! 🌡️☔️📺

Students at Meadow Elementary School recently explored the science of weather during a special visit from Emmy Award-winning meteorologist @samanthaaugeri, founder of Sam’s Weather School. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiments, students learned about weather phenomena like tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning, and thunder. Highlights included students stepping up to deliver their own weather forecasts using a microphone and green screen, getting a firsthand look at what it’s like to be a meteorologist! #WhatsBRUINinBaldwin #BaldwinMeadow #PublicEducation #ILovePublicEducation #ILovePublicSchools #SamsWeatherSchool #Weather #Tornadoes #Hurricanes #Lightning #WeatherPhemomena #Forecasts #WeatherForcasts #STEAM #STEAMEducaton #STEAMEducationforKids
