HY👉 In a naturally aspirated engine, air enters solely based on the pressure difference between the atmosphere and the engine’s intake. Forced induction with a turbocharger bypasses this limitation. The exhaust gases leaving the engine are still at high pressure and temperature, carrying wasted energy. The turbocharger captures this energy by using the exhaust flow to spin a turbine wheel at high speeds. This turbine shaft is connected to a compressor wheel on the other side. The compressor wheel acts like a fan, forcefully cramming more air into the engine’s intake tract. This compressed air is denser, containing more oxygen molecules per unit volume. Since more oxygen is available, the engine can burn more fuel efficiently, creating a significant increase in power output. This entire process is what we call forced induction – it forces more air than usual into the engine for a bigger bang.
