You better believe I skipped into the house with these second hand bargains to style this corner 🤗. Bespoke on a budget was always the plan with this DIY project. The bench itself cost around £200 in materials to build and paint (we used leftover timber and OSB board for the frame). Then the no-sew, easy clean seat pads cost around £50 each to make. Couldn’t believe my luck to find this solid wood, extendable table for £25 on FBMP! It also came with 4 chairs that I might use elsewhere. Then last week on my mission to find some bentwood bistro chairs these sweetheart shaped beauties popped up for £10 each 🤩!!! Next, I built a custom corner bench filled with cushions to maximize the seating area. But the real game-changer was the wall decor. This little corner of my kitchen has been a labour of love. It’s taken me a while to get all the elements together, especially choosing the fabric for the bench seat but I’m so pleased with the way it’s turned out. The main purpose was to provide some much needed storage as well as seating that didn’t take up too much space. Funnily enough, whilst moving the kitchen table to the centre of the room to paint the bench, I realised I quite liked it there! I’ve positioned the table both ways so you can see how it looks next to the bench. I prefer the table in the middle of the kitchen but was outvoted by my family! Anyway, I now have another area for people to sit as, let’s face it, that’s always the room that people congregate. The linen curtain helps to add some privacy at night as we’re a little overlooked. I have to thank @edwardianseasidehome for the heads up on this linen curtain from @dunelm. It’s an absolute bargain and hangs easily with the loops at the back. I used a £5 tension rod also from Dunelm to hang it and is just narrow enough not to be knocked off when we open the patio doors. The botanical prints are from @troveprints which I thought linked with the plants on the decking outside. The frames were around £10 from @factoryshop. The green cushion came from @ellenvaleinteriors which have some really good value cushions imo. The other two cushions were from @mango. I’ll list all the details below for reference. As I’ve said in earlier posts, this year is all about adding storage in our home as we are bulging at the seams! It’s only a small change but makes a big difference! Hope you like it.
