If you see me walking really slowly this weekend, this is why. 🗣I CAN’T FEEL MY THIGHS!!! I took a month off from exercising. A whole month. Why? Cause I wanted to! I just physically and mentally didn’t feel like it. I listened to my body and rested. To “maintain,” I tried to be more conscious of what I ate and it helped. Diet is more important than any squat I could do. If anyone tells you differently, don’t believe them 😂. I workout in the mornings and I’ll tell you why👇🏽 It is the most control I have of my day. I tend to have a lot going on in the evenings (work, social, etc), so moving my body in the AM is best for my schedule. And guess what? Ya girl is NOT a morning person! 😩🙅🏽‍♀️ If this is you too, here are my top 5 tips to make that morning workout happen, ESPECIALLY if you are NOT a morning person… 1️⃣ LAY OUT YOUR WORKOUT CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE - Take 5min the night before to decide what you’re going to wear and lay it out so you can see it. This will send a signal to your brain when you first wake up that you made a commitment! 2️⃣ SET YOUR ALARM & PUT IT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM - When that alarm clocks goes off, you’ll have to get out of your bed to turn it off. And once you’re up, you’re likely to stay up and gear up for that workout! 3️⃣ PLAN AHEAD YOUR WORKOUT & MUSIC PLAYLIST - Take 10min on Sundays to write out your workouts for the week, including what days you’ll do cardio or strength. If you enjoy classes, sign up ahead of time. And don’t forget to make a bomb playlist to listen to. A bomb playlist = a bomb workout. 😬 4️⃣ MAKE EVENING PLANS YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS - If you have a tendency to say, “I’ll just do my workout later,” this one’s for you. Purposefully fill your evenings with fun activities or acts of self-care to motivate you to get your workout done in the morning. 5️⃣ GO TO SLEEP…ON TIME! Set a time limit on your social media scrolling and commit to going to bed at a specific time. Hope this helps! 💎 P.S. I’m not ALWAYS motivated to workout. So YES, there are days where working out seems unimportant or my body is straight up TIRED. BUT... I make the decision daily to recommit to what I want. I want a body that is healthy, strong, and energized. That doesn’t mean no days off or that I’ve never missed a workout. IT MEANS... I am consistent. I do my best every day to get up & work towards my goals long after the excitement of setting them has faded. An hour ago I was in bed scrolling through social media. I gave myself a pep talk and decided to get a workout in. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THE SAME. Be consistent. Commit. Give yourself the pep talk. Set those goals and make a plan to crush them. Lace up and show up even if you have that ‘I don’t want to workout’ feeling. Getting something done after you DIDN’T feel like it, often feels like a greater accomplishment than if you did it on a good day! Share with me ONE way you will move your body this week.
