AUThis is completely terrifying.
In the UK, there’s a structured system in place to support adults on the spectrum, especially depending on their level of need.
Through the council and a designated social worker, many autistic adults are supported in what’s called “supported living.” There are licensed providers who run these services.
Many adults have their own self-contained apartments, designed around a person-centred risk assessment to ensure safety, comfort, and independence.
For individuals who require 24/7 care, they are assigned trained support workers who assist with daily living.
There’s also a structured activity program to promote wellbeing and social inclusion — things like drama club, art club, football, farming, swimming, morning tea groups, and even supervised group travel.
Public transportation is free for many disabled individuals, which makes community access and daily outings much easier.
The council works closely with these organisations, and government funding covers the cost of care and services
How can we make the same system in America. Or do you know if this is already happening in your state. Comment below if this exists.
