MREBSA - emotionally based school avoidance.
I first heard this term a couple of years ago, and suddenly realised that there are so many children out there struggling to see school as a ‘safe’ place.
There are many parents struggling to understand why the ‘safe’ school they chose for their child is filling them with anxiety and fear rather than the confidence and stability they were after.
It’s so tough to navigate when your family is going through it and you feel like you’re the only ones up against the challenge. BUT the more we talk the more we see how common EBSA sadly is.
This week on @happymumhappybaby I am joined by Child Therapist and Anxiety Specialist @saskiajosstherapy. Saskia, who offers helpful advice to those who are worried about the school year ahead. Offering ways for us to encourage and support our little ones, advocate for them within the school setting and work with others to get them back into school after a period away.
You can listen to this episode in all the usual places and on YouTube now.
Sending a huge hug to anyone who needs it. Xx
