SI(PART 1/2) January 24 was the International Day of Education. 📚🎓
A reminder that education is a fundamental human right and a shared public responsibility.
Education is not only about schooling. It is a foundation for positive change, peace, development, and resilience. When education systems are strong, communities are safer, economies grow, and futures expand.
In the Philippines, education looks very different depending on where a child is born. Even when children make it to school (walking hours, crossing rivers, studying in off-grid classrooms) poor systems and uneven quality continue to limit real understanding and mastery. Overcrowded classes, stretched teachers, disrupted school days, and climate-related closures mean that being “in school” does not always mean truly learning.
Let’s talk about education reform. They are documented through data, studies, and nationwide consultations conducted by the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), which provides a system-wide assessment of where Philippine education is struggling and where to bridge the gaps.
