Bloom’s Taxonomy helps you score higher than rereading, highlighting, and summarizing combined. Most students have never heard of it, but it’s the framework that explains why some study methods work and others don’t. The taxonomy breaks down learning into six levels, and understanding these levels completely changed how I studied. I thought rereading my notes and highlighting my textbooks counted as studying, but that’s all just recognition at the remembering level. The second level is understanding. You can repeat information back, but can you actually explain what it means? This is where real comprehension starts to happen, and it’s already beyond what most students do when they study. The third level is applying. You take a concept and use it in a new situation. Can you solve practice problems you’ve never seen before? This is where most exam questions actually function, and if you’ve only been memorizing definitions, you’ll struggle here. The fourth level is analyzing. This is about breaking down information and seeing how the parts relate to each other. Professors love testing this level because it shows whether you actually understand the material or just memorized it. The fifth level is evaluating. This is where you judge which solution is better and defend your answer. This shows up in essays and case studies, and it requires a much deeper level of engagement than passive review. The sixth level is creating. You use your knowledge to design something new, develop solutions, and combine concepts in original ways. This is how you master a topic completely. Passive methods like rereading only get you to level one, which is remembering. But your exam tests all six levels. When you’re only studying at the first level and the exam is testing levels three through six, you’re going to struggle no matter how many hours you put in. Methods like these helped me go from struggling to straight A’s. Once I understood that I needed to push myself beyond just remembering information, everything changed. If you comment the word LEVEL, I’ll send you an in depth video explaining all six levels with efficient learning methods for each one 🚀

POV: You’re studying for hours but remembering almost nothing. Most students are stuck at the lowest level of learning. They read, highlight, and re-read. That’s not real understanding. Bloom’s Taxonomy breaks learning into 6 levels: Remember → Understand → Apply → Analyze → Evaluate → Create. Most people never get past level 1. The students who score the highest study at levels 4-6, they question concepts, connect ideas, and teach what they learn. Pair that with: Spaced Repetition: reviewing material at increasing intervals so your brain actually retains it long-term Active Recall: closing the book and forcing yourself to retrieve information instead of passively reading it The Feynman Technique: if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough This is why some people study 2 hours and outperform others who study 8. It was never about time. It was always about method. Comment “HELP” and I’ll help you build the right study habits to score more while studying less. 🧠
