Here’s how I landed my first electrical engineering job with ZERO internship experience: 1. I built and refined my resume throughout college. I included projects that showcased my passion and technical skills. I also listed the jobs I worked during college and translated those experiences into transferable skills that aligned with the job descriptions. The key is connecting your experience to what employers are looking for. And keep it concise; my resume was one page. 2. I focused my coursework on my career goals. I knew I wanted to work in the power industry, so I took as many power related classes as possible and highlighted them on my resume. Employers do pay attention to relevant coursework, so be prepared to talk about what you learned and how it applies to the role. 3. I attended every career fair I could. During my junior & senior years, I showed up to every career fair. It was a great opportunity to network and make connections. You never know who you’ll meet or which conversation could lead to an opportunity. 4. I applied broadly and stayed open minded. I applied to roles aligned with my interest even positions out of state. Don’t limit yourself. Being open minded can open doors you didn’t expect. 5. I prepared extensively for interviews. I spent a lot of time practicing. I reflected on my strengths, experiences, and what I could offer. I researched each company thoroughly so I understood their work and values. At the end of interviews, I asked thoughtful questions to stand out. And of course, I dressed professionally to make a strong first impression. #electricalengineer #advice #tips #jobs #jobsearch

Live-line maintenance at high voltage without shutting the grid down. These crews perform precision repairs from helicopters, working centimeters away from energized transmission lines. It’s not just a dangerous job. It’s advanced electrical engineering, extreme training, and calculated risk management. Power never sleeps and neither does the infrastructure behind modern civilization. Would you take this job for $30,000 a month? #highvoltage #powergrid #engineering #lineman #infrastructure

Electrical Mastery: The Art of Perfect Wire Termination! ⚡🔌 Witness the skill and precision required for high-quality electrical connections! In this video, we see a masterclass in preparing a heavy-duty cable for a secure terminal fit, ensuring maximum conductivity and safety. The Science of a Secure Connection Properly terminating a large gauge wire is critical for preventing electrical resistance and overheating. Here is how it’s done: The Challenge (0:00 - 0:02): A thick, multi-strand copper cable needs to fit into a copper terminal lug. Often, the strands are too frayed or the bundle is too wide to slide in easily. Precision Trimming (0:02 - 0:04): Using a specialized multi-tool, the operator carefully trims the excess copper strands. This ensures the remaining bundle matches the internal diameter of the terminal perfectly. The "Secret" Hack (0:05 - 0:13): Instead of struggling with loose strands, the operator uses the tool to cut a thin ring of the red insulation. This small ring is slid over the copper strands to act as a "compressor," holding all the fine wires tightly together. The Final Fit (0:14 - 0:22): With the insulation ring holding the bundle in place, the copper terminal (BT-25) slides on flawlessly. The operator then removes the temporary ring, leaving a clean, professional-grade connection ready for crimping. Why It Matters In electrical engineering, a loose strand isn't just messy—it's a hazard. By ensuring every single copper wire is tucked inside the lug, we guarantee: Lower Resistance: More contact surface means better current flow. Durability: A tight fit prevents the cable from pulling out under stress. Safety: No stray wires means no risk of short circuits. Have you ever struggled with frayed wires during a DIY project?
