Yes, I make my own detergent like it’s 1893. And yes… I switched to non-toxic deodorant. Which means for about 3 weeks my armpits were on their own spiritual journey. 🫠 Everyone talks about “detoxing your body.” No one talks about detoxing your armpits. But here we are. I eliminated alcohol. I removed ultra-processed foods. I cut artificial sweeteners. I filter my water. I prioritize pasture-raised beef. I strength train 3–5x a week. I sauna. I cold plunge. I healed Hashimoto’s & vitiligo naturally, and these small changes truly added up. Here’s what I stopped doing… & the supportive swaps that helped digestion, energy, hormones, and immune balance: 1️⃣ Relying on canned tuna & lots of canned foods Canned fish and foods can be high in histamines, mercury, and BPA-lined packaging, which place extra stress on the gut, liver, and hormone pathways — especially in sensitive or autoimmune-prone bodies. Swap: fresh or frozen, low-mercury, wild-caught proteins and more food variety to support detox and immune resilience. 2️⃣ Fasted workouts Training on an empty stomach spikes cortisol and signals stress to the body, which can slow thyroid function, impair recovery, and disrupt hormone balance over time. Swap: quick, easy carbs before movement (banana, dates, honey, rice, sweet potato) to support stable energy and better healing. But any bite will do!!! BONUS: eat for your blood type! OR Move your workouts to later on in the day! They’re thermal receipts, which means they’re coated with chemicals like BPA or BPS so the ink can “develop” when it’s printed. The issue is that those chemicals don’t stay on the receipt, they transfer easily onto your skin, and they absorb through your skin fast. BPA and BPS are known endocrine disruptors, meaning they can interfere with hormone signaling in the body. Studies have shown that just holding a receipt for seconds to minutes can significantly increase BPA levels on your hands (and it’s even worse if your hands are warm, damp, or you’ve just used hand sanitizer or lotion). So when you grab a receipt after grocery shopping, then touch your food, your face, or your phone, you’re transferring those chemicals again and again. Is touching one receipt going to ruin your health? No! But this is one of those “death by a thousand cuts” exposures that adds up over time. That’s why we either decline the receipt, don’t touch it, or toss it immediately. Popular products like Tide, Kirkland, Gain, Arm & Hammer, etc. are awful and worse than those shown. ECOS is not quite as bad as others shown, but not great. Their free and clear would be better, but not best. Avoid these ingredients: 1) Fragrance 2) Sodium lauryl sulfate 3) Artificial dyes 4) Ethoxylates (ingredients that end in eth) 5) Polysorbate 6) Methylisothiazolinone Conventional laundry is ultra toxic. I don’t think people quite understand how the products you use in your home, can greatly affect your toxic burden and health. Look up the lung study. You don’t want to be that person trying to do the right things, but dropping the ball on easy swaps that cost you nothing. Most detergents can cause leaky gut; almost all have carcinogens, harmful fragrance, and endocrine disruptors. Thankfully you have healthy alternatives, and can swap for a nontoxic option that works AND saves you money. You save $160 and get 300 free loads… then the sale goes away. Doesn’t make sense to use conventional products in your home anymore. Especially if you or a family member struggles with leaky gut, autoimmune, allergies or other health problems … all of which can be linked to toxic cleaning supplies. The problem with most nontoxic detergents is they either don’t work, or are way too expensive. This detergent is the best of both worlds, and it’s just 16 cents a load. It will have both your clothes and machine smelling fresh. Just because you’ve used something your entire life, doesn’t mean it’s safe or good. Other detergents not listed (almost any you can buy at the store besides a select few), are toxic too. And most companies saying they’re clean and “plant-based”, are deceiving and greenwashing you. I only trust a few brands, and the product must actually work… so you don’t have to switch back to the toxic blue goo.
