Death is not an enemy. It’s a fact that doesn’t touch the living. Why should I fear death, if I am not? If death exists, I do not. Why fear what can only exist when you no longer exist? Epicurus reminds us that fear is a choice, not a destiny. Anxiety over what will not feel anything anyway is wasted energy. Stoicism echoes this: focus on what you control, let the rest go. Life is about living fully, not dreading the inevitable end. Stop letting the shadow of death steal the sunlight of today. Your energy belongs to the living, not the absent. Most people aren’t afraid of death. They’re afraid of thinking about it. Death is not an enemy. It’s a fact that doesn’t touch the living. Why should I fear death, if I am not? If death exists, I do not. Why fear what can only exist when you no longer exist? Epicurus reminds us that fear is a habit, not fate. Anxiety over something you will never experience is misplaced energy. Stoicism reinforces it. Control your thoughts. Release what isn’t yours to manage. Death will come whether you panic or stay calm. The only real loss is wasting the days you still have. Life is meant to be lived with presence, not overshadowed by inevitability. Your breath, your time, your focus belong to now. So instead of fearing the end, are you fully using the time that’s already yours? 🏛️ MARCUS AURELIUS vs EPICURUS: The Ultimate Philosophy Showdown! 🍇 Control your mind or chase pleasure? The Stoic Emperor battles the Garden Philosopher in an epic debate that'll make you question how you're living your life! 🔥 Marcus Aurelius says discipline and duty create TRUE peace, while Epicurus argues that simple pleasures and avoiding pain is the real wisdom. Who's right? Watch these ancient titans go head-to-head with ZERO chill! 💭⚔️ Marcus calls out Epicurus for running from reality, Epicurus fires back calling Marcus a "gloomy emperor" who welcomes suffering like a madman. This gets SPICY! 🌶️ The question isn't just philosophical—it's PERSONAL: Are you team "embrace the grind and control what you can" or team "enjoy the garden and skip unnecessary suffering"? Drop your philosophy in the comments! Are you living like a Stoic warrior or an Epicurean pleasure-seeker? 👇 These ancient debaters didn't hold back, and neither should you! Hit that follow for more philosophical battles that actually matter to your daily life. 🧠✨ Who won this round? Lately, I’ve been trying to broaden my base — revisiting some old philosophy lectures from university, diving into articles online, and actually reading again. Reading’s never been easy for me — I’m dyslexic, and I’ve always struggled to stay tuned in while I’m reading. But that’s exactly why I try to make it a habit. It keeps me sharp. Keeps me learning. Right now, I’ve been reading Epicurus’ Letter to Menoeceus — (short, but deep), and it’s been sitting with me. What’s wild is that back in ancient Greece — a time when the world was war-torn, fractured, and unpredictable — thinkers like Epicurus focused not on fixing the world, but on cultivating peace within themselves and their communities. They couldn’t control politics or empires… So they turned inward. That mindset is something I’ve been thinking a lot about. Because even now — in all our noise — sometimes the only thing we can control is the peace we protect in our own minds. Epicurus believed that to live well meant to live free of anxiety and unnecessary pain. That pleasure wasn’t indulgence — but calm. And that friendship was one of the highest goods a person could have. So I want to say thank you — genuinely — to all my friends who’ve supported this page and this creative journey so far. Even if it seems small, it means a lot to me. It reminds me I’m not just creating into a void. I’m sharing something — with people I care about. Epicurus had a school called “The Garden” — and get this: Women and slaves were welcomed. At a time where philosophy was locked behind status and power, he opened the gates. That’s the kind of thinker I respect. Most of his writings were lost, but this one letter remains. Like the Steve Jobs quote about how the secret to life is realizing everything around you was made up by people no smarter than you — Epicurus was saying the same thing… thousands of years ago. For Epicurus, the chief purpose of philosophy is to help people understand what the best kind of life is and why it is so. He saw philosophy as both an education of the mind and a therapy for the soul, famously saying that “if philosophy does not heal the soul, it is as useless as medicine that does not heal the body.” According to Epicurus, the happy life is one of ataraxia a state of serene calm and it is achieved through a philosophical understanding of the true nature of things and by living in harmony with that understanding. #philosophy #epicurious #rational #wisdom #virtue #truth #knowledge #art #quotes

Maybe life isn’t meant to feel easy. Maybe it’s meant to be understood differently by each mind that lives it. Life does not burden us in one single way; it weighs differently on different minds. When pleasure becomes the goal, emptiness follows. When meaning is demanded, silence answers back. Deep awareness turns suffering into pain, truth leads to loneliness, and unanswered questions create absurdity. Even freedom itself becomes unsettling when choice carries responsibility. Together, these perspectives reveal that life’s difficulty is not a flaw of existence, but a result of how consciously it is lived. Same life. Different minds. Different burdens. #Philosophy #ExistentialThoughts #Epicurus #AlbertCamus #Dostoevsky #Nietzsche #Kafka #jaun#pratikshasinnerworld Which philosopher do you relate to the most?

I believe that fully surrendering oneself to any passion or sin-lust, adultery, gluttony, and so on - only increases the level of disgust over time. A full person cannot truly appreciate the taste of food because they are already satiated and need no more. The more they force themselves to consume, the stronger their aversion to food will grow. It is crucial to remain conscious in such moments and not allow your animalistic nature to take control of you. There must be balance. To restrict oneself means to ignore one’s own rational needs, those required by both the soul and the body. It is important to combine and balance between the two extremes: surrendering or suppressing. . . 💬 Share your thoughts on this quote 📚 More philosophical quotes you’ll find at👇 @nous.grit 🧠 #epicurus #stoicism #phylosophy #stoicquotes #inspiration #strongmindset #controllyourmind
