ADMost people over 50 are still getting this wrong… And it’s probably not what you think.
They’re not obsessive.
They’re not restrictive.
They’re not smashing themselves in the gym or starving.
Honestly… it’s way simpler than that.
Here’s what I actually see:
1. Their weekends look like their weekdays.
This is the big one. They don’t go off the rails Friday to Sunday and then try to fix it on Monday. They eat a similar way, move their body, wake up around the same time. It’s not perfect… but it’s consistent. And consistency always wins.
2. They build strength and fitness.
They’re not doing random workouts.
They follow a simple structure. Lift weights 3 times a week. Get in around 150 mins of zone 2, plus a short burst of higher intensity. They know after 50… muscle and fitness change everything - metabolism, bones, heart, confidence.
3. They walk. A lot.
Not for punishment. Just part of life. They walk the dog, catch up with a friend, get outside. Most days they’re hitting around 8–10k steps without overthinking it.
4. They build meals around plants.
Not perfectly. Not obsessively. But plants are the base. Less inflammation, more fibre, more volume, more nutrients… everything just works better.
5. They get enough protein.
Not extreme… just consistent.
Around 1.1–1.6g per kg of healthy body weight. Mostly from plants. Lower in saturated fat, supports muscle, and keeps them full.
6. They protect their sleep.
Like it actually matters… because it does. They don’t scroll until midnight. They wind down, go to bed earlier, and treat it like part of their health routine.
7. They stopped starting over.
No more “I’ll start Monday.” No more all or nothing. They just keep going… even when it’s not perfect. Especially when it’s not perfect.
None of this is flashy.
But this is what actually works.
And for most people… it starts with getting your food right.
That’s exactly what I teach.
Most people think it’s harder than this… it’s not.
