HIMany people grew up watching the famous roaring lion at the beginning of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) films… but few know a surprising detail.
The lion in the opening is not a drawing or a digital effect.
Throughout the studio’s history, several real lions were filmed to create that classic introduction.
The most famous of them was Leo the Lion, used since 1957. He was recorded roaring for real to create the opening that millions of people instantly recognize.
Before him, other lions were also used, each representing a different phase of the studio.
In other words… that roar you hear before the movie starts is literally from a real lion.
Now tell me something:
Did you already know this, or did you just discover it today? 👀
