“Great Lakes state parks, part one. On the western shore of Lake Huron, we’re heading to the Cape Cod of the midwest; Tawas Point State Park. It’s famous for its lighthouse and birdwatching but with these storm clouds rolling and we had to head to the beach first. The northeast corner of the point had this really cool black and red sand and with the clouds in the background, the lake was shining this aqua green color. We made our way back towards the lighthouse collecting trash along the way. Where should I visit next? Let me know in the comments.”

DUIn order to be happy, I need space.

OFThis trip? It tested us a little.
Long van rides, winding roads, altitude that hit you the second you stepped out.... And a hike that had you questioning your life choices before you even saw a single butterfly.

But that’s kind of the point. Because the best things, the ones that stay with you, don’t come from convenience. They come from saying "yes" when it would be easier to stay comfortable. They come from pushing past “this is hard” and finding out what’s on the other side.

And then… you get there.
Millions of monarchs filling the sky. The sound of their wings. That moment where everything goes quiet, and you realize you just witnessed something most people never will.

And suddenly, every mile, every step, every “why did I sign up for this?” was worth it.

I watched people on this trip do something bigger than just travel.
They showed up for themselves.
They pushed through discomfort.
They chose experience over ease.
And they were rewarded with something you can’t really put into words.
