“I’ll be there someday.” That’s what 12-year-old Chresten W. told her mom as they drove by United’s Flight Training Center in Denver. This year, she becomes the No. 1 most senior pilot across our entire airline — and the first woman to hold that honor.

Flying isn't scary, and neither is chasing your dreams. What's scary is being 80 years old, and wishing you would've pursued your goal of flying for a living. It's scary to be on your death bed with regret, because you didn't take a chance on yourself. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely nerve racking to start flight school when there are a lot of things that aren't in your control. Things like the hiring environment, finances, and opportunity cost are certainly things I worried about when I started flight training. However, if it is your dream, then you have to pursue it despite all of that, and know deep down that one day it will all work out. Don't worry about what you can't control. Take one step at a time: take an intro flight, stat your ground school, network at the airport 1x/week, get a medical certificate, apply for scholarships + loans, fly again, take your written. Eventually what used to seem impossible and extremely scary becomes accessible + extremely rewarding. Chase your dream!!!!! Don't let FEAR STOP YOU . . . . . #studentpilot #aviation #fyp #flightschool #dreamcareer

Why the Airplane Suddenly Feels Like It Wants to Float ✈️📚👇 • • • The answer: D) Induced drag. Ground effect shows up right after takeoff or just before landing when the airplane is close to the runway. As you get within about one wingspan of the surface the wingtip vortices weaken and the airflow becomes more efficient. That reduction in induced drag is what makes the airplane feel smoother and sometimes reluctant to settle back onto the runway. Understanding ground effect helps pilots manage expectations during takeoff and landing. It explains why the airplane may lift off sooner than expected or float longer during a flare. Knowing what is happening aerodynamically keeps you ahead of the airplane instead of surprised by it. When did ground effect finally click for you during training? 👇 . 1. Find an independent instructor. Flight schools have overhead big buildings, multiple staff, marketing, financing departments and you’re paying for all of it. An independent CFI usually has lower operating costs and more flexible scheduling. That means: • You can fly more often • You’re not locked into expensive “packages” • Training can be more personalized and efficient When you train efficiently, you finish faster. Finishing faster = fewer total hours wasted = less money spent. 2. Split time with other pilots. Time-building doesn’t have to mean paying full price for every hour. Find someone at a similar stage and split costs: • Cross-countries • Safety pilot time • Time-building toward commercial You both log time. You both cut the cost nearly in half. That alone can save thousands over a year. 3. Live at home (if you can). Rent is usually your biggest expense not flight training. If you can eliminate or reduce that cost for a year: • More of your income goes toward flying • Less financial stress • No pressure to take out loans Training in one year isn’t just about flying hard it’s about minimizing lifestyle expenses so aviation becomes your priority. Number 3 is the hardest sacrifice but you gotta do what you gotta do ! #generalaviation #pilot #education #aviationreel #pilotlife

90% of students don’t know this career exists Most students grow up believing there are only a few “safe” career options. Engineering. MBBS. Maybe CA. But the reality is — there are entire industries students never even learn about in school. Aviation is one of them. Becoming a commercial pilot isn’t just about flying aircraft. It’s a structured career path that involves DGCA exams, medical certification, flight training, and years of discipline. The surprising part is not how difficult aviation is — it’s how many students never discover the process early enough. Career awareness changes everything. If you want a clear step-by-step roadmap to becoming a pilot after 12th, Comment ROADMAP and I’ll send you the guide.
