CA🩵 FROCKTOBER 🩵
Today’s @frocktober_ocrf prompt is head turning hats. This is part one of two posts featuring fun hats - because I’ve got many, and I have loved accessorising with them since I lost my hair to chemo.
I’m resharing these fabulously fun photos that Michelle and I took a couple of weeks ago.
My hat - or headpiece - is by Fumbalinas. I love the colour, and that it’s not too uncomfortable to wear, even with an almost bald head. Jacket is by Glitter is a Neutral - always fun to wear!
Michelle and I have been friends for so long now - we connected online due to our writing about disability; and we also both love fashion. Michelle does a series called #UpAndDressed - showing her style as a disabled woman, even when her body and mind and pain levels may be difficult to navigate. Michelle is part of our Frocktober team - do check out her posts @michelle_roger - she’s frocking fabulous.
I have been drawling inspo from Michelle - in recent weeks, I have felt pretty good. But prior to my chemo dose changing, and after surgery, there’s been days where I barely got out of bed, because the pain or other symptoms were so debilitating. Putting on beautiful clothes can really help me feel better, even when I feel fragile, pained and sad.
Fashion can be a suit of armour - a distraction for me, and a distraction for other people who meet me.
As much as life has changed since my cancer diagnosis, I’ve tried to keep doing things that make me happy. And you could say, I’ve amped up the outfits - when I’m not wearing pyjamas!

RE💐 Why do I put pennies in with my tulips? 💐 Flowers wilt faster when they are infected with bacteria and fungi. The copper from pennies acts as a natural fungicide, killing all of that pesky bacteria and fungi eating away at the flower’s stems (which is often a result of cross contamination from the trimming shears used to cut the stems)! This is particularly good for flowers that have softer stems and heavier flowers (like tulips) where the stems degradation will cause them to bend and fall. So, the copper penny actually keeps your fresh cut flowers more upright and will extend their lifespan while keeping them bacteria-free! #freshcutflowers #lifehack #spring #springdecor #firstdayofspring #floralsforspring #tulips #floraltips #floraldesign #penny
