+ $300 taxes and fees
I booked when there was a 25% Amex membership rewards points transfer bonus.
This means I only had to transfer 44,000 Amex points to Flying Blue/Air France in order to book the business class flight. Currently there isn’t a transfer bonus to Flying Blue/Air France.
United MileagePlus at the time was charging 77,000 miles and $72 for an itinerary that had more layovers and took over 22 hours to get to LAX!
The @upgradedpoints transfer partner tool keeps all the transfer bonuses updated and is a good reference tool to see which credit card points transfer to which airline/hotel program. (Link in bio)
Yes I know its $300 in taxes and fees is on the higher end but it still beats paying $1,800. Even with the higher taxes and fees this is still a good redemption for your miles and points. If you don’t think so comment below and let me know how you would book this.
