ARDay 107: after 107 days in the hospital fighting for my life I walked on my own this week!
I have dreamt, cried and hoped for this moment
I spent months without any use of my legs, crying to my family, my docs and my physios, begging to understand if I would walk again.
Still a hell of a long journey ahead.
Still feeling raw WTFness (a new emotion I’ve claimed and named - feel free to use when needed 😉) that I’m even HAVING to learn to walk again.
Still feeling so grateful for my physios / OTs who have got me here.
Still frustrated by having foot drop in both feet (all my muscles have come back online except I cannot pull up my toes or ankle still- so I’m wearing braces that help pull my toes up)
And will also spend the whole weekend feeling deep overflowing amounts of gratitude and joy that I’m at this point.
NO FREAKING HANDS or equipment walking!
Now I’m working on building endurance, strength, balance and stamina around it.
Send these ankles some “come back online please vibes”
Love ya. Thanks for being here even without the yummy recipes. I can’t wait to be back to them one day
