CIYou call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. John 13:13-15
It was very important to me that the glory of God be shown in my wedding and the Holy Spirit put it on my heart years ago to perform foot washing during my ceremony.
While this may seem strange to some, it is significant to others, because it’s an example of the humility Jesus showed to his disciples, and the example He sets for us. To honor one another and serve one another. Not just in marriage, but as followers of Christ.
Our marriage will be built on the foundation of service. An important distinction I wanted to highlight during my wedding day. Being cute and not getting my wedding dress dirty wasn’t as important to me as actively showcasing that at the altar I died to myself and became even more of a servant to God and now to my husband (as to each other). 🤍
