DINew educational video! They claim the war was about slavery or Lincoln waged a noble crusade to end slavery, but peel back the Yankee propaganda, the truth is far uglier: the War Between the States was never about morality—it was about Northern greed, subjugation, and iron-fisted control over the sovereign South.
Before the conflict, The South wasn’t just a region—it was the economic engine of the entire nation, churning out about 75% of U.S. exports in cotton, tobacco, rice, and sugar. The south fueled the nation’s wealth. Yet every export was slapped with crushing tariffs that funneled hundreds of millions straight into the Northern economy, enriching Northern infrastructure, and lining federal pockets, while Dixie saw little return.
When Southern states peacefully exercised their right to secede, Lincoln didn’t thunder, “You can’t own slaves! Let my people go!” No—he barked, “You can’t leave!” The war ignited not over human bondage, but because secession would’ve starved the Union of its golden goose.
Ponder this: Two bloody years of slaughter passed before “Honest” Abe discovered his “moral compass”. The Emancipation Proclamation—issued only where he had zero authority—wasn’t liberation; it was psychological warfare, a desperate bid to keep European powers neutral and provide a perfect moral cover for his illegal, unconstitutional political and economic war. The Emancipation Proclamation was used as a slick moral cloak draped over a brutal campaign to crush Southern independence and preserve the tariff cash cow.
So let’s be clear: Lincoln didn’t “save the Union.” He invaded it. He didn’t liberate slaves—he weaponized the issue to justify conquest. The South fought for self-government, states’ rights, and economic survival against a tyrant who’d rather burn half the country than lose his revenue stream. Lincoln didn’t “preserve the Union.” He shattered the Founding Father’s compact, suspended habeas corpus, jailed dissenters, torched cities, and waged war on Americans to force the south to remain under his complete control.
