DEOnce I realized that 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 is what I craved the most, that’s when I was able to get off the never-ending hamster wheel of chasing achievements.
Never mind that as women of color we are programmed to over-achieve in order to actually be noticed so stepping back isn’t always an option.
However, if you’re starting to notice that you are overcompensating and that there’s no reason to anymore, then it’s time to ask yourself:
🖐️ “Why am I doing this? Is it imposter syndrome?
🖐️ “Is it for my ego?”
🖐️ “What am I getting out of this other than checking off a box?”
It’s ok to walk away from something, even if you’re halfway through it! It was hard for me to walk away from my law career at first because so much of my ego and my pride were tied up in it.
But once I realized that career was no longer aligned with who I was and the life I wanted to build then I was able to let go and lean into my business! And that’s when I found the time freedom that I so desperately craved after spending my entire life adhering to a schedule decided by other people.
If time freedom is something you crave, then you need to get your money right. A strong financial foundation will allow you to say yes or no to the opportunities that will lead you to time freedom.

WIDemocracy, some argue, can become a refined illusion — a system where people feel empowered because they choose their rulers, yet remain governed all the same.
The act of choosing can create the appearance of freedom while leaving the deeper structures of power untouched. Citizens select between options presented to them, believing the decision itself is sovereignty, even when the boundaries of that choice were never theirs to define.
This is the uncomfortable question behind the statement.
Stoicism encourages skepticism toward appearances. It asks us to examine whether participation truly equals control, or whether it sometimes serves as a ritual that legitimizes authority rather than limits it.
When people vote, they exercise a form of influence — but influence is not always the same as autonomy.
The deeper issue is not the system itself, but awareness. A society that believes choice automatically equals freedom may stop questioning the structures that shape those choices.
True independence begins not merely with selecting leaders, but with understanding the forces that guide the options before you.
Because freedom is not only about choosing.
It is about knowing what you are choosing between.
