GLAt the second edition of the GCC Converge Summit & Awards 2026 in Pune, hosted by @the_mainstreamofficial , Shammi Prabhakar, GCC Leader, in conversation with Simran Shiwalkar, Journalist at The Mainstream, shared nuanced insights on the evolving role of policy in India’s GCC growth story.
He highlighted that while policy incentives act as a strong enabler, offering financial benefits, especially in emerging sectors like semiconductors and digital technologies, they are often not the primary driver for setting up GCCs. Instead, ease of doing business, clarity in execution and structured implementation play a far more critical role.
His key message: Policies may be the catalyst, but execution, collaboration and ecosystem readiness ultimately determine GCC success, especially as companies explore expansion into tier 2 and tier 3 cities for sustainable growth.
