Only then, wrapped in that embrace and finally feeling safe, does the boy break down and cry. The scene from 2023 is almost unbearable to watch precisely because of what it reveals. It is not just about one child or one strike. It is a window into the psychological reality of an entire generation growing up inside a conflict zone. Children who experience war at close range often suffer from post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation that can persist well into adulthood. The trauma does not end when the bombing stops. For many, it is only the beginning. As the Middle East conflict continues to grow and draw in more countries across the region, conversations about its humanitarian consequences must go beyond borders and political positions. The mental health of children affected by war is a global crisis that demands global attention. No child should have to learn how to survive terror before they learn how to read. And no embrace, however warm and sincere, should have to carry the burden of undoing what war has done.
