🧬 Epigenetics means "above genetics", it's not about changing your DNA code, but about how your environment influences which genes switch on or off. At HPLT New York, Dr. Yael Joffe explained that every second, your body is turning genes on and off based on things like food, stress, and sleep. 🔄 Your DNA holds the story, but it has to be read to have impact. With the right lifestyle, you can influence how that story unfolds. 🧠 You have more control than you think. #3X4genetics #genetictesting #nutrigenomics

It’s National Hereditary Cancer Week! 🧬 Did you know some cancers can be passed down through families and you can test for them BEFORE you get cancer?? Yep! Learning about my risk saved my life, so there are a few things I think you need to know…. —————— Some of the cancers linked to inherited mutations and passed down through families include: Breast, colon, pancreatic, stomach, ovarian, anal, melanoma (skin), prostate, bladder, renal pelvis(kidney), endometrial(uterine), lung, some sarcomas, and more. —————— Here’s why it matters👇🏼 1. A positive result means early and more frequent screenings. ⬇️ 2. More thorough screenings allow for early diagnosis and treatment. The earlier cancer is detected and treated, the better the chances of beating it. ⬇️ 3. Some specific genetic mutations respond better to certain types of cancer treatment and/or medications. That means more personalized & targeted treatments if you do get (or have been) diagnosed. ⬇️ 4. If you are at risk for certain types of cancers, preventative surgeries may be an option for you and can significantly reduce your risk. ⬇️ 5. Mutation or not, there are nutrition & lifestyle changes you can make to dramatically decrease your risk.(Follow for more).😉 —————— If you have a family history of cancer, genetic testing may be covered at 100% (mine was), but even if it’s not—it’s only about $250 out of pocket. Worth it. 🙌🏼 Even though most cancers aren’t caused by inherited mutations—if it has the potential of saving one life I think patients should be informed about this option. Comment “INFO” below and I’ll DM info on what to request it from your provider. 😘 One more tool for you cancer prevention toolbox! #hereditarycancerweek #previvor #breastcancersurvivor #informeddecisions #breastcancer #inheritedcancer #genetictesting #cancergene

RESULTS ARE IN! WE HAVE..... FOUR EMBRYOS!!!!! 🌈👶🏼✨ Out of 10 eggs retrieved, we have FOUR sweet little embryos that made it 🥹🤍 I truly can’t even put into words how grateful I am for these four tiny miracles. This isn’t the end of the road though — all four are being sent off for genetic testing now, so we’re back in another waiting season. Praying so hard they all come back strong and healthy 🙏🏼✨ We are holding onto so much hope that our rainbow baby is in this batch 🌈🤍 Feeling beyond blessed to call these four embryos mine. Thank you for all the love and support it genuinely means the world! With that being said, look out for a giveaway that will be posted soon!! #ivf #ivfjourney #ttccommunity #realistic #fertility

Let’s talk about one of the most overused and misunderstood, add-ons in fertility care: genetic testing. Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A) can be valuable in specific cases, like recurrent pregnancy loss or known chromosomal translocations. But for many women, especially under 38, it’s not always the “guarantee” of success it’s sold as. 🔍 What you might not know: PGT can sometimes label viable embryos as “abnormal.” Mosaic results are often misinterpreted. And the extra cost? Often several thousand dollars, without proven benefit for everyone. I’m not anti-technology, I’m pro-transparency. Every test should have a reason, not just a price tag. If you’re navigating IVF, ask your doctor why this test is recommended and whether it truly changes your next step. Lot of my experience in fertility I got in Germany, there it is not allowed to do PGT-A only in certain circumstances but pregnancy rates are comparable to countries where it is done. Don’t get me wrong, I think, it is a great tool but it should be explained properly! 💬 Have you been offered genetic testing during IVF? Share your experience below, I’d love to hear how it was explained to you. “I’m not doing it now just because you just told me I have to” This is demand avoidance—a neurological response where ADHD brains become hypersensitive to perceived loss of control. The second a task becomes an obligation, your motivation completely disappears. You can hyperfocus for 10 hours on a passion project, but ask you to do 10 minutes of an assigned task? Your brain shuts down completely. It’s not defiance or stubbornness. It’s biology. Demand avoidance is tied to genetic variants that make ADHD brains react to external demands as threats. When someone imposes a requirement, it triggers a stress response that shuts down your prefrontal cortex and turns off your dopamine system—literally disabling your ability to execute the task. For years, I felt broken. I’d avoid tasks I actually wanted to do simply because someone told me I “should” do them. I couldn’t understand why I was sabotaging myself. Genetic testing showed me my specific genetic variants. Once I understood my brain’s need for autonomy, I stopped fighting it. I learned to reframe obligations as choices, build novelty into boring tasks, and work WITH my wiring instead of against it. You’re not difficult. Your brain needs autonomy to function. Understanding your specific genetic variants—DRD4, DAT1, COMT—can finally explain why you resist what you “should” do. 💬 Comment “DEMAND” to learn your unique genetic blueprint-print! ➕ Follow for ADHD and genetic insights

Genetic testing isn’t about labeling you. It’s about finally understanding you. Two people can eat the same foods, take the same supplements, follow the same workout plan, and get completely different results. Why? Genetics. When we understand your SNPs and pathways, we are able to create targeted, personalized protocols that actually move the needle. In functional medicine, we’re not guessing, we’re looking at your blueprint. Personalized medicine > trendy protocols. 🚨 This will completely change how you think about parasites and “chronic illness.” Doctors just confirmed something medicine has never seen before. A man didn’t develop cancer from his own cells. 👉 The cancer came from a parasite living inside him. Advanced genetic testing revealed the tumors weren’t human at all — they matched the DNA of a dwarf tapeworm. Let that sink in. The parasite itself mutated, turned malignant, and spread through his body. And here’s the part no one is talking about 👇 His immune system was compromised — which allowed the parasite to thrive, mutate, and go unchecked. This wasn’t “random.” This wasn’t “bad luck.” This was biology + burden + immune suppression colliding. We’ve been taught to believe parasites are: • rare • harmless • only a third-world issue But cases like this prove something deeper: 🧠 When the immune system is overwhelmed, organisms we coexist with can become destructive. 🦠 Chronic infections don’t always stay “benign.” 🔥 Inflammation + immune suppression changes everything. And if parasites can literally develop cancer inside a human host… what else are we mislabeling as “idiopathic,” “autoimmune,” or “incurable”? This is why I teach root cause healing. This is why symptoms are never the whole story. And this is why ignoring parasite burden is no longer an option. Not fear. Awareness. 👇 Comment ROOT CAUSE if you’re ready to stop chasing symptoms 🖤 Follow @thedetoxwarrior for truth-forward, functional health education #thedetoxwarrior #rootcausehealing #parasiteawareness #chronicillnesstruth #functionalmedicine immunehealth inflammation Source: Findings published in the New England Journal of Medicine Study: Muehlenbachs A, et al. 🧬 Genetic testing in HSD/hEDS is often misunderstood. As a pediatrician, I want families to know both the uses and limitations of genetic testing in these conditions. 💡 Right now, there is no specific genetic test for hypermobile EDS or HSD. And it’s often expensive! Because of this, I limit genetic testing in children to those with certain red flags in their personal or family history that suggest a different connective tissue disorder. 🚩 These red flags can include: - Early and severe onset of symptoms - Cleft lip or palate - Significant bleeding history - Congenital deafness -Other unusual features that don’t fit typical hEDS/HSD 🔍 In these cases, genetic testing may help identify rarer connective tissue conditions that do have known genetic markers. But for most patients with HSD/hEDS, diagnosis and management are based on clinical features, symptoms, and careful multidisciplinary care rather than genetic results. 💲 It’s also important to note that insurance doesn’t always cover genetic testing, which can be an added consideration for families. 🌱 What matters most is helping children and young adults grow and thrive physically, emotionally, and socially- with or without a genetic test result. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This content is for educational purposes only and not a substitute for medical advice. Please consult your healthcare provider for individualized recommendations. 💬Have you or your family gone through genetic testing for HSD/hEDS or another connective tissue condition?
