Menteri Kebudayaan Fadli Zon meluncurkan buku penulisan ulang sejarah Republik Indonesia berjudul “Sejarah Indonesia: Dinamika Kebangsaan dalam Arus Global”.  Buku ini ditulis oleh 123 sejarawan dari 34 perguruan tinggi di seluruh Indonesia tanpa campur tangan pemerintah. Fadli menegaskan bahwa penyusunan buku sepenuhnya dilakukan oleh para ahli sejarah sebagai upaya akademik, bukan proyek politik. Buku sejarah tersebut terdiri dari 10 jilid dengan total 7.958 halaman yang membahas perjalanan Indonesia dari era kemerdekaan hingga era demokrasi. Meski demikian, Fadli mengakui karya ini belum sepenuhnya sempurna karena tidak mungkin mencakup seluruh aspek sejarah Indonesia secara menyeluruh. Terkait adanya penolakan terhadap penulisan ulang sejarah ini, Fadli menilai perbedaan pendapat merupakan hal wajar dalam negara demokrasi.
