I just painted the pine cones green. Then added some dry brush white paint to the ends. Brush some mod podge on and sprinkle on some glitter. Then finish with a gold star foam and glue to a painted clay pot saucer.

MA😮 What if your student has trouble filling in the bar model…
Bar models are a great tool for solving word problems, but what if your child isn’t sure how to fill in the numbers??
🌟 First, I would remove the numbers from the problem. Have them visualize the story, and make sure they understand the situation.
🌟 Then, replace the numbers in the problem with much smaller numbers. “Ellie ate 2 peanuts, she has 3 left in the bucket. How many did she start with?”
You can even pull out physical objects and have them act out the problem.
I find that when we discuss the problem together using small numbers, most people are able to see how the numbers relate to each other.
🌟 Then they are ready to go back to the original problem with the larger numbers. If they get stuck along the way, I remind them of how we did the problem when there were only 2 and 3 peanuts.
Also, remember to look for situations in your every day life that you can highlight with your child. When they have many opportunities to think about part-part-whole relationships, it will become more natural to apply that in math class!

This is my middle child’s first year of formal lessons. 🥹 She is learning to read, to narrate , and practice the skill of attention and observation. I’m so excited!!
