FRHeat shield: how to do it properly⚙️
Heat shield is thermal insulation for exhaust components and it helps to:
1. keeps exhaust gases hot: faster gas velocity = more responsive turbo
2. protects intake air from heat — cooler intake air = more air = stable engine power
3. keeps engine bay components from overheating
Our welder's tips about heat shield:
1. Shape complex parts from the back for a clean finish on the visible side
2. Lay insulation wool evenly: no gaps means better heat protection
3. Clean the surface to bare metal before spot welding for better adhesion and stronger weld
4. Overlap the steel sheets for no gaps
5. Press both parts tightly together before welding to prevent burn-through
6. Brush weld points with a stainless steel brush
