Hotels base late checkout on occupancy, not the clock. If they’re not full that night, there’s no real reason to rush you out. Here’s the behind-the-scenes move I use: • Call the front desk the night before • Ask for a specific time (ex: “Is 2pm checkout available?”) • Mention loyalty status if you have it • If there’s a fee, ask politely if it can be waived as a courtesy • If needed, reference your status again — managers can override systems Most travelers waste their last day because they don’t know how hotels actually operate. I called ahead to confirm availability and wasn’t informed of any fee. I’ve made similar requests at other hotels and was never charged more than $3 for a gallon, if there even was a charge💧 When reviewing our bill, we discovered a room service charge for the distilled water. Including taxes and delivery fees, it totaled $38!! 😱 I could have packed a whole suitcase full of water for that price 😅 ➡️ Lesson learned: always ask about costs up front and don’t assume something will be free just because it has been before.
