• Co-applicant & Collateral: A parent or guardian with a solid CIBIL score. For loans over ₹7.5 Lakh, you will generally need to pledge an asset like a house, land, or fixed deposits.
2️⃣ FREE MONEY: Pilot Scholarships in India 🎓🇮🇳
Yes, they exist! Before taking on massive debt, look into these:
• JRD Tata Scholarship: A fantastic merit and need-based grant by Tata Trusts that helps cover tuition and flying hours for Indian commercial pilot students.
• Government Schemes: Check the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Programs like the Wings to Fly scheme and NSFDC offer major financial backing for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC).
• State Subsidies & IGRUA: India's premier government flying school, IGRUA, offers financial aid and stipends. Also, state governments (like Haryana) offer heavily discounted per-hour flying rates at state aviation clubs, with even bigger discounts for female cadets!
3️⃣ Loan Interest Rates
Expect interest rates to float between 8.5% and 12.5%. Public banks usually offer the lower end of that spectrum if you have solid collateral, while private NBFCs process the loan much faster but might charge a bit more.
4️⃣ Repayment Plan (The Grace Period) ⏳
You don’t have to pay massive EMIs while you are still learning to fly. Banks give you a "moratorium period," covering your entire course duration PLUS an extra 6 to 12 months to help you secure an airline job. Once that period ends, you get up to 15 years to repay the loan.
