HEBeing diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is scary.
Especially after Googling it.
Here’s what I tell my own patients:
IIH is serious, but it is manageable when followed closely.
The landmark clinical trial in IIH showed that with proper treatment and monitoring, vision outcomes improve and optic nerve swelling decreases.
What makes the biggest difference?
• Regular eye exams
• Staying consistent with follow-up
• Reporting vision changes early
• Actually partnering with your doctor
The patients I worry about most aren’t the ones who are scared. They’re the ones who disappear.
Fear is normal.
But staying engaged in care protects your vision.
