NTThe Supreme Court of Nigeria has reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, challenging the Court of Appeal ruling that nullified its 2025 Ibadan convention.
The appeal, filed by the Turaki-led PDP faction, is seeking to overturn the lower court’s decision on grounds of jurisdiction, arguing that the matter relates to the party’s internal affairs.
Counsel to the appellants, Chris Uche, urged the court to set aside the earlier judgments and direct the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise officials elected at the Ibadan convention.
However, counsel to the respondents, Joseph Daudu, countered that the lower courts acted within their jurisdiction, noting that the case involves statutory responsibilities of INEC in legitimising party processes, and urged the court to dismiss the appeal.
A panel led by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba announced that the date for judgment will be communicated to parties involved.
