the ongoing market crash is hitting everyone, especially this poor pinchworm.
not to be mistaken for the beloved inchworm or the diminutive squinchworm, the pinchworm is a foraging-type spetument found throughout eastern north america. named for their frugality and resourcefulness, the pinchworm has long been associated with wealth, productivity, and good fortune. some economists have even advocated for the pinchworm’s inclusion beside the bear and the bull of wall street.
sadly, this association has created more harm than good for the meager pinchworm; in times of recession, these spetuments become harbingers of financial ruin and disaster. it’s believed that over 70% of pinchworms were killed off during the great depression, largely by superstitious businessmen and families fearing misfortune.
thus, with market crashes looming overhead, we find our friend the pinchworm, leaving behind the rush of the city for the simplicity of its natural habitat. this spetument may not know what its future holds, but in times of peril, all one can do is keep squirming along.
