Tiramisù is the most famous Italian dessert in the world but did you know its origins? The recipe was created in the 1950’s by Norma Pielli, the chef of the hotel and restaurant Roma in the little town of Tolmezzo, in Friuli Venezia Giulia 😍
People used to come from all over the region to taste this special dessert made with mascarpone cheese, coffee and biscuits. Who would have ever known that this simple dessert would have become so popular all over the word? 🥰
The secret for a perfect tiramisu is to whip your egg whites and incorporate them into the mascarpone cream. Also, make sure you use cold coffee for your biscuits and always make it the day before to make your tiramisu… MAMMA MIA 🤤
Ingredients:
-4 eggs
-300g sugar
-500g mascarpone
-40 Savoiardi biscuits
-300ml coffee
-100g cocoa powder
Separate 3 egg yolks from the whites and whisk these last ones with a pinch of salt.
In another bowl, mix the 3 egg yolks with a whole egg and sugar for a couple of mins. Incorporate the mascarpone and the whipped egg whites and set aside. In the meantime dip your Savoiardi into some cold coffee and layer your tiramisu, alternating your biscuits with cream. For the best result, rest your tiramisu in the fridge over night and serve with some cocoa powder on top. Buon appetito!
